Check out the best video game release in August!

Halfway through the year, the video game industry still has lots of titles to look forward to. This month, a good number of great games are coming, including a new Sonic Mania game and the standalone Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.

From an original release to a sequel, stand-alone and expansion, here are the best and much-anticipated video game releases in August.

Sonic Mania

The much-anticipated new Sonic Mania game is arriving on 15 August on Playstation4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. In the new trailer released by game developer Sega, the new Sonic Mania title will have both the Bonus Stages and Time Attack Mode. Old fans of the game should be conversant of how these modes work. The Bonus Stages will have either Sonic, Tails or Knuckles chase after blue spheres to finish off the stage. Time Attack Mode, on the other hand, lets players fight for their spot on global ranking for the fastest speed.

Agents of Mayhem

Like Sonic Mania, Deep Silver Volition-developed Agents of Mayhem will officially be out on 15 August on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. On Saturday, pre-release copies were out and the initial 30-minute gameplay was made available. Mission names have been revealed alongside 50 trophies that come with them after missions are completed. Accomplishments are subdivided into four: Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze.

XCOM 2: War of the Chosen

The XCOM 2: War of the Chosen is due for release on 29 August. Arriving with 12 new features, initial reviews lauded Firaxis for delivering an expansion that feels like a sequel. The new enemies—Assassins, Hunters and Warlocks—are mightier than expected. They can abduct your soldiers and know them down in a single action. Meanwhile, a new mod called Photobooth allows players to customise propaganda posters for soldiers. The XCOM 2: War of Chosen will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

Game developer Naughty Dog will release Uncharted: The Lost Legacy on 22 August as a standalone game. The developers made a game-changing decision to exclude Uncharted: A Thief's End's Nathan Drake from the new title and puts his love interest Chloe Frazer alone in the spotlight.
