Korean actor Song Joong-ki emerged as the most talked about movie star in the month of July. The actor had garnered a lot of buzz when he announced earlier this month that he was marrying actress Song Hye-kyo on 31 October. His movie "The Battleship Island" also made headlines.
The Korea Institute for Corporate Reputation made an analysis of 139.28 million pieces of big data covering 50 Korean movie stars from June 28 to July 29 according to participation, media, communication and community indices. This is 72.87 percent higher than the 80.57 million pieces of big data analyzed in June.
Song Joong-ki got a total score of 23.49 million while tailing him is actor Song Kang-ho who got 11.51 million or half of the former's total.
According to the institute, Song Joong-ki attracted consumers' attention through the movie "The Battleship Island" and his drama "Descendants of the Sun" led to his upcoming marriage to Song Hye-kyo.
Gong Yoo, who starred in the drama "Goblin," copped third place with 10.8 million while Kim Soo-hyun, whose movie "Real" was released on June 28, is fourth with 9.86 million.
Trailing from fifth to tenth places are "The Battleship Island" stars Lee Jung-hyun, 6.66 million; and So Ji-sub, 6.36 million; Siwan, 6.05 million; Jun Ji-hyun, 5.96 million; Hwang Jung-min, 5.67 million; and Yeon Jin-goo, 4.55 million.
