Telco powerhouse Singtel is in full support for the Singapore athletes competing in the 2017 SEA Games with its launch of Power On campaign.

This is Singtel's second feature in its month-long campaign, following the Malujah Every Minute multimedia campaign which honoured the nation's spirit during the independence day month of August.

The campaign profiles six Singaporean athletes in a series of videos that will be featured on Singtel TV, social media, as well as several bus stops scattered across the island.

Amongst the athletes in this campaign are Joseph Schooling (Swimming), Loh Zhi Zhi (Water Polo), Mark Leong (Water Ski), Nur Alfian (Silat), Shanti Pereira (Track and Field) and Shayna Ng (Bowling).

In a statement, Schooling said he hopes to win all his events and break records.

"All I can do is swim my heart out and compete at my best for my country. We have a great team this year. With the camaraderie and the support within our team, we can take each other to new heights," the Olympic champion stressed.

Singtel Vice President for Group Strategic Communications and Brand Lian Peck said there's nothing that unites Singaporeans more than having athletes represent Singapore at regional or international sporting meets.

"We see the Games as a natural extension of our National Day campaign as ultimately, it's a very tangible reminder that we all have to raise our game to keep Singapore ahead of the pack," she said.

The telco has been active in sporting events. Recently, it renewed its ongoing partnership with the Singapore National Olympic Council to help develop the local sporting scene.

The partnership dates back to 2012, with Singtel extending its arm to fund the training of the nation's athletes and support Singapore's goal of becoming a sporting powerhouse.

With the said partnership, the telco will provide 900 ReadyRoam SIM cards to Team Singapore, which is sending the largest-ever overseas contingent to the Games.
