Singapore-based electronics firm Creative Technology said its unit ZiiLabs Inchas filed a patent infringement lawsuit against American microprocessors firm Nvidia Corp.

The ZiiLabs patent portfolio contains patents in the graphics, processor and 3D spaces, the company said in a statement on Monday.

Four of these patents have been asserted in the lawsuit, in which ZiiLabs is claiming damages for patent infringement against Nvidia, the statement said.

Creative, famous for its Sound Blaster sound cards, had previously announced that Intel, Apple and Samsung had each taken a non-exclusive license to ZiiLabs' patent portfolio.

Creative, in July, announced the settlement of certain other U.S. patent lawsuits involving patents in the ZiiLabs patent portfolio.

Creative Technology in August won a lawsuit against Chinese tech company Huawei, with the latter paying S$36 million in damages.

Shares in Creative Technology rose 1.3 percent to S$1.2 on the Singapore Exchange. The stock has gained 24 percent so far this year.
