Singapore: Malaysian pregnant woman killed in Jurong West accident

The authorities have arrested a 46-year-old male lorry driver for causing death by a negligent act.

A 25-year-old pregnant Malaysian woman was killed on Saturday morning after being hit by a lorry in an accident in Jurong West in Singapore. According to reports, Goh Chieh Ting was crossing the road at Jurong West Avenue 1 when the accident occurred.

The Singapore Police Force said that it was informed about the accident involving a lorry and a pedestrian along Jurong West Avenue 1 towards Corporation Road at around 8 am. The police added that the victim was sent to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital but there she succumbed to her injuries.

The authorities have arrested a 46-year-old male lorry driver for causing death by a negligent act. The investigations are going on.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force received an alert at around the same time and it said an ambulance to the scene. It added that the victim was unconscious en route to the hospital.
