Singapore: E-scooter rider dies after being hit by SBS Transit bus at Bedok Reservoir Road

A 52-year-old Singaporean man was killed in an accident at the junction of Bedok Reservoir Road and Kaki Bukit Avenue 1 after being hit by SBS Transit bus. He was taken to Changi General Hospital but he succumbed to his injuries.

A 52-year-old man was killed on Thursday morning after his e-scooter was hit by a SBS Transit bus in Singapore. The police said that the unconcious rider was taken to Changi General Hospital, where he subsequently succumbed to his injuries.

According to reports, the accident took place when the man was crossing the junction of Bedok Reservoir Road and Kaki Bukit Avenue 1 at around 10.30 am. Channel NewsAsia reported that the rider across and the bus, which had the right of way, could not stop in time.

Several photos that were circulated on social media showed the e-scooter stuck underneath the front part of the bus, whose windscreen was smashed due to the accident. Meanwhile, some other photos also showed the rider lying on the road and bleeding from the back of his head.

Tammy Tan, senior vice president of corporate communications at SBS Transit, said that the company is "very sad" about the accident. "We are currently at the hospital with (the injured rider's) family to render assistance as best we can," Tan told Channel NewsAsia.

The police said that the investigations are still going on.
