Singapore: 27-year-old man dies in accident near SAFTI Military Institute

SCDF officers took about 15 minutes to extricate him out of the car using hydraulic rescue tools

A 27-year-old man was killed in an accident involving a car and an excavator near SAFTI Military Institute in Upper Jurong Road on Tuesday night.

Lianhe Wanbao reported on Wednesday that the accident took place on the road leading towards Boon Lay Way after the victim, identified as Oh Wei Loong, drove his black Honda car into an excavator that was being used by energy contractor Integrate Engineers for cable-laying works.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said they were informed about the incident at about 8.55 pm on Tuesday. They dispatched a fire engine, a fire bike, a Red Rhino, an ambulance and a support vehicle to the scene. The man was found trapped in the driver's seat of the car.

SCDF said the officers took about 15 minutes to extricate him using hydraulic rescue tools. The man was unconscious when he was taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. Later, he was pronounced dead at the hospital. The police said the investigations are going on.
