The dramatic footage shows the moment Deputy Brandon Hegele slammed into another vehicle while travelling at 104mph on 27 May 2016 in Palm Beach, Florida. The driver of the other car was left with an injury to the brain, as well as a broken back, arm, ribs and pelvis. Hegele has been charged with reckless driving, with his trial expected to start on 28 August.
