The finale episode of the current series of popular detective series Sherlock was leaked online. Now, the fans want the season 5 to happen soon.

Well, it's difficult to say when Sherlock Season 5, episode 1 will air on BBC One but the wait will be longer for the upcoming season. According to Radio Times, a source confirmed that the Sherlock Season 5 episode 1 is not happening till next January.

Steven Moffat, the showrunner informed that they have not thought about the future yet. According to the reports, Moffat said: "Right at this moment, we really don't know about the future. Mark [Gatiss] and I have to have a long chat, possibly on a train, about what we'd actually do with another run. We love the show very much, and that means we don't want to let go of it before we have to."

Moffat's statement hints that another run of the show will happen sooner or later. However, in July 2016, Moffat said that "Sherlock Season 4" could be the last one.

Moffat stated via Telegraph: "I don't know how long we can keep it going. I'm personally willing but I'm hardly the main draw. I would be moderately surprised if this was the last time we ever made this show. But it absolutely could be."

Sherlock Season 4 was commissioned in October 2013. The official announcement of the series was made back in July 2014. The shooting of the episodes began in April 2016 and in January 2017, episode 1 premiered.

Sherlock Season 4, episode 3 finale will air on Sunday, 15 January.
