Selena Gomez battling lupus: Taylor Swift's plans to cheer up singer revealed

Selena Gomez is dealing with anxiety, depression and panic attacks as side effects of lupus.

Taylor Swift has promised to spend time with Selena Gomez. The former Disney star is dealing with anxiety, depression and panic attacks as side effects of lupus.

A source told HollywoodLife: "As soon as Selena's feeling better, Taylor has promised a girls' weekend. She can hang out with their girls quad and they can pamper themselves at a health spa."

Gomez cancelled her Revival world tour and is taking some time off to take care of her health. She told People: "As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways. I've discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges."

"I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off. Thank you to all my fans for your support. You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best. I know I am not alone by sharing this, I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues," she added.

Meanwhile, the Come and Get It singer had previously opened up about her relationship with the Bad Blood hitmaker while appearing on ITV's Lorraine. Gomez revealed how Swift has stood by her during her highs and lows. She said: "I mean I've known her for 10 years, she's been one of my best friends through thick and thin, walked by my side. Her whole family has been so supportive of me and yeah, she's been there during crucial points in my life and in my career."

She added: "[Taylor's] known for embracing her personal story and creating a beautiful thing out of it, and I was a little hesitant with that—and she was always the person to encourage me to tell my story and be proud of who I am."
