School 2017 confirms male leads: Drama to premiere this July

Actors Kim Jung Hyun and Jang Dong Yoon are going to play the male leads of the drama.

The upcoming Monday-Tuesday drama of KBS 2TV, School 2017, has confirmed the male leads of the drama.

According to Soompi, Kim Jung Hyun and Jang Dong Yoon are going to play the male leads of the show.

Reportedly, Kim Jung Hyun will play the role of a reckless and rebellious high school student known as Hyun Tae Woon. After being kicked out of one in the U.S schools, he is transfered to a Korean school. He is to join gugudgan's Kim Sejeong as part of the drama's lead cast.

On the other hand, Jang Dong Yoon is all set to play the role of Song Dae Hwi who is almost a perfect student. He is good at everything and is also known for his "righteous charisma" as he protects the weak. He is also school's student president but he doesn't have influential parents like Kim Jung Hyun's character.

According to the reports, the upcoming drama will be directed by Park Jin Suk who is known for his previous dramas like "Naked Firemen" and "The Tale of the Bookworm."

In 1999, the KBS's School franchise first began with School 1. Since that time, several instalments have been followed over the years, the latest popular dramas include, School 2013, and Who Are You: School 2015.

Between all the dramas, the common thread is focussing on the youths mainly. This was one of the first dramas "really showcasing school life." Though they focused more on the youth romance, they also put an effort to show how the daily lives and concerns of the youth today.

School 2017 is scheduled to air in July, after the run of Fight My Way finishes.
