Samsung Galaxy Tab E under US Cellular receives Android 7.1.1 Nougat update

The update also comes with the August security patch that carriers the Blueborne fix.

Mobile network US Cellular has begun rolling out the official Android 7.1.1 Nougat update on its Galaxy Tab E models. The company skipped the Android 7.0 update, which seems to be a strategic move to keep up with the fast developments in software upgrades.

Samsung Galaxy Tab E variants under US Cellular with model number SM-T377R4 in the US have started to get the Nougat treat with build number T377R4TYU1CQI4. The tablet is the second Samsung device to skip Nougat after the Galaxy Tab A 9.7.

The latest mobile operating system version is Android 8.0 Oreo, which is currently running on some Google Pixel and Nexus devices.

Apart from the native features and improvements that come along with Nougat, there are no notable custom changes US Cellular rolled out with the update. More importantly, the update also arrives with the August security patch that carriers the Blueborne fix.

Android 7.1.1 Nougat also delivers a GIF ability right from the phone's keyboard. Supported apps include Google Allo, Google Messenger and Hangouts, among others. Google also adds app shortcuts directly from the home screen for easy access to actions on frequently used apps.
