Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are hit by rumours that they are on the verge of split. The couple have allegedly distanced over his rumoured closeness with Emma Stone.

A source told Radar Online: "Emma and Ryan have THE hottest chemistry in Hollywood right now. Eva seems to feel totally intimidated by Emma, even though neither Emma nor Ryan have given her any reason to worry."

The two also had a tiff after Mendes did not join the 36-year-old actor to the Academy Awards 2017, who was nominated for Best Actor for his role in the musical film, La La Land. The insider added: "Everyone's kind of gotten used to Eva shunning the limelight, but no one ever thought for a moment she'd skip the Oscars — especially when Ryan was nominated for a once-in-a-lifetime accolade. It didn't make sense. When they first got together, they were inseparable and were often seen out on dates holding hands. Now that just doesn't happen."

"They're past the point of caring now. The biggest sign it's over is the fact that Eva and Ryan don't even bother to argue anymore. The only thing they do agree on is the fact that none of their needs are being met!" the source shared.

Meanwhile, Mendes had revealed why she did not accompany Gosling to the Oscars 2017 held at the the Dolby Theatre on 26 February in Hollywood. During an interview with Shape magazine, the 43-year-old actress said she was at home with their two young daughters during the actor's big night. She said: "What people don't know about me is that I love being home. Instead of hitting the red carpet, I'd rather be with our girls."

On the other side, Gosling paid tribute to Mendes as he collected his Golden Globe award 2017 for the Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy prize for his performance in La La Land. He said: "I just would like to try and thank one person properly, and say that while I was singing and dancing and playing piano and having one the best experiences I've ever had on a film, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer."

He continued: "If she hadn't taken all that on so that I could have this experience, it would surely be someone else up here other than me today. Sweetheart, thank you."
