Private bus runs over cyclist in Pioneer Road North, driver arrested [VIDEO]

The incident happened on the Pioneer Road North at around 6.01pm on 12 January.

A woman was mowed down by a private bus on the Pioneer Road North towards Nanyang Crescent at around 6.01pm on Thursday. The bus also lost control and collided with several other vehicles.

According to the Straits Times, paramedics declared the female cyclist, who was in her 40s, dead at the scene and rushed an injured man, who was in his 60s, to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.

The bus driver was also arrested by police for causing death by a negligent act. If found guilty, he could land in jail for up to two years.

Following the accident there was much traffic congestion near the accident site police diverted all vehicles except public buses and shuttle buses from Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

A video captured by an in-car camera of showed the bus suddenly coming in from the right breaking the fence on the divider and ramming into a car. A lorry and a white BMW are two of the vehicles which were damaged in the accident.
