Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte in Singapore on two-day visit

Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs says an orchid will be named at Singapore Botanic Gardens in Duterte's honour.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte will be on a two-day visit to Singapore from Thursday at the invitation of President Tony Tan Keng Yam, Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a media release on Wednesday.

Duterte will attend an official welcome ceremony at the Istana on Thursday that will be followed by a call on Tan and a meeting with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. According to the press release, Tan will also host a state banquet in honour of Duterte.

On Friday, Duterte is scheduled to meet Singapore business leaders and the Filipino community. The statement added that he will also visit Singapore Botanic Gardens. An orchid will be named at the garden in his honour.
