Phil Harrison favours Nintendo Switch over Xbox One, PlayStation 4

Former Sony and Microsoft executive Phil Harrison prefers Nintendo Switch over Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Here's why.

With over two decades of experiencing the highs and lows in the video game industry, it is hard to miss what Phil Harrison has to say about the current generation of home consoles. He personally thinks that the Nintendo Switch is just way better than the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

Phil Harrison is endorsing the Switch console rather than its rivals in the market. In a recent interview with the GameReactor in Barcelona, Spain, Harrison is all praises to Nintendo for coming up with such a promising console after years of finding the needle in the haystack.

Harrison worked as the chief of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe from 1992 until 2008 and as the vice president of Microsoft Game Studios from 2012 until 2015. But, as irony would have it, the veteran game pundit is choosing the product he has not worked for.

When asked about the current state of the home console war, he is particularly concerned with Sony and Microsoft's growth in the market share based on the contents they are delivering and the innovation that users will be able to experience.

"What I wonder about, and maybe worry about a little bit, is that [both Microsoft and Sony] are they growing the market?" questions Harrison. "Are they building and investing in the content and broadening the experiences to bring in more players?"

Based on his observations, from the public announcements of Nintendo's rivals at least, Harrison said Sony and Microsoft are stuck in the same goal for years to attract hardcore gamers. Thus, giving Nintendo the sporting opportunity to expand to an even wider audience. Harrison, however, remains excited how the hardware gaming sphere will unfold in the next three or four years.

From his personal experience, his sons play a lot of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and he does not see this changing at this period of time.
