OnePlus' next flagship smartphone dubbed 'OnePlus 5' is all set for 2017 summer release as the company has decided to skip the 'OnePlus 4' moniker owing to the bad omen associated with the number '4' in China, where the OnePlus handsets are made. The new flagship will be riding on the success of OnePlus 3 and 3T as their successor with dual camera setup and high-end specs.

The OnePlus 5 will be the fifth generation phone produced by OnePlus, but its naming convention is based entirely on the number five jersey of former NBA player Robert Horry who plays for the 'Spurs and Lakers'. Several OnePlus employees reportedly consider themselves as the biggest fans of the NBA star player, which seems to have influenced the company's decision in naming its next-gen smartphone after the player's jersey number.

OnePlus often stands out in the smartphone market for its 'value for money' offerings that yield high-performance phones at a relatively smaller budget in comparison to its rivals: Google, Samsung and Apple.
