HMD Global has announced that Android 8.0 Oreo is officially being rolled out to Nokia 8 in Singapore. A company executive said the device is getting a "pure version" of Android Oreo with all its new features and performance updates.

"We're proud to deliver our pure and secure take of Android 8.0 Oreo on the Nokia 8," says Juho Sarvikas, chief product officer of HMD Global, in a statement to IBTimes Singapore, Monday.

Sarvikas takes pride in Android 8.0 Oreo for Nokia 8, emphasising that they have "created a pure version of the mobile operating system version. He adds that Oreo for Nokia 8 is packed with all the exciting new features along with the improvements that have added.

"Working together with our fans under our newly setup up Nokia phones beta labs, we've created a pure version of this highly anticipated mobile platform, delivering all the exciting new features with none of the unnecessary clutter paired with great performance and even better battery life."

Features on board include the picture-in-picture mode which allows users to use two apps one on top of another. Android Instant Apps allows users to de-clutter the system by using new apps without actually installing them. Smart software, on the other hand, lets users craft content as quick as possible.

Also, HMD Global reinforces the update with its exclusive enhancements on the ground. With Android 8.0 Oreo, Nokia 8 gets no skins and no changes in the user interface and no bloatware or pre-installed apps. The Dual-Sight mode enables device users to broadcast events on social media in real-time using the two cameras at the same time.

It took quite a while for the company to release the said update but Sarvikas has stressed that the company wants to deliver "the best possible Android experience."

"We always want to give our fans the best possible Android experience. That's why we've taken the time to test, optimise and refine the platform."

Nokia 8 is available in retail stores and on Singtel, StarHub and M1.
