Nam Joo Hyuk's big screen debut is a star-studded historical film

The film is likely to be premiered in 2018 and the shooting will begin from August.

It's official! Nam Joo Hyuk will be a part of the star-studded historic film Ansi Fortress (temporary title). The film also stars Jo In Sung, Park Sung Woong and AOA's Seolhyun in key roles.

Nam's agency YG Entertainment has confirmed the news via a press statement. According to Soompi, the film narrates the story of a historic battle fought between Yang Manchun (the Goguryeo commander of Ansi Fortress) against the invasion of 500 thousand Tang Dynasty troops who tried to capture the fortress. The film will revolve around the thrilling 88-day battle between the troops.

In the film, Jo will play the role of General Yang Manchun, while Seolhyun will appear as his younger sister and Nam as his close aide. "Film 'Ansi Fortress' will allow viewers to look back on the history and deep message revolving around the country during that time frame. I was especially moved by the charismatic leading character as well as the captivating scenario," Jo was quoted by All Kpop. There are also reports that the cast will undergo formal marital arts and sword fighting training to the play the character to perfection.

The film is likely to be premiered in 2018 and the shooting will begin from August. Bankrolled by Studio & New (the makers behind the hit Descendants of the Sun and Train to Busan), the film is made on a massive budget and has already become the talk of the town for its casting coup. Kim Kwang Sik will take charge as the director.
