Avid Motorola fans are in for some exciting news as the freshly leaked press images from a Spanish retailer have revealed the major design elements for the forthcoming Moto G handsets. Evidently, Lenovo is prepping the launch of Moto G5 and G5 Plus for its upcoming media event at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, while teaser images of the smartphone launch were grabbed by some users and posted via Twitter.
The retailer site reportedly took down the leaked content after realising the mistake, but the damage was already done as the press images had started spreading on the internet like wildfire.
Nevertheless, here is a brief description of the Moto G handsets' design elements as depicted in the leaked press images (below):
As Android Police reports, both the standard and Plus variants of Moto G5 flaunt similar design aesthetics including the identical camera module, which is round-shaped like the Moto Z. However, the module is said to be a bit larger and placed above the frame on the G5 Plus.
A few of the leaked renders portray a more rounded frame for the G5 than the G5 Plus. A closer look on the G5 Plus also reveals a weird kind of Lenovo logo on the chamfered edge of the phone.
However, it is not clear if the Plus variant is built with a metal frame or a plastic version with metallic finish.
With due credit to Ktronix website, we now have access to the key specifications of the two flagship Moto G phones as evident in the second set of leaked press images.
The regular variant (Moto G5) is apparently powered by Snapdragon 430 while the Moto G5 Plus will ship with the latest Snapdragon 625 processor. Although both the G5 and G5 Plus ship with 2GB of RAM, the former gets 32GB of storage while the latter supports 64GB of internal storage.
In addition, the G5 comes with a fingerprint sensor while the Plus variant supports NFC as per the leaked images. The G5 is touted to feature a 5in 1080p display while the Plus features a bigger 5.2in 1080p display as seen in the specifications listing on the leaked press images.
