Manny Pacquiao claimed the WBO welterweight title after defeating Jesse Vargas by unanimous decision at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas on Saturday.

The Filipino senator, who returned to the ring after a seven-month hiatus, proved he had it in him to compete at the highest level again after prevailing a gruelling 12-round battle against the American pugilist, who is ten years younger than him.

Saturday's fight was his first since he defeated Timothy Bradley in April earlier this year after which he called it quits from the sport. He then was elected to the senate in the Philippines in May.

However, upon promoter Bob Arum's request, Pacquiao reconsidered his retirement and chose to be at the ring in the United States, where he is adored as one of the best of the sport.

Notably, Pacquiao greatest rival Floyd Mayweather was at the Thomas and Mack Center to witness the battle. The 37-year-old disappointed none but gave joy to millions of his fans by coming up with a solid show after coming back from retirement.

IBTimes Singapore has compiled a few Twitter reaction after the Filipino boxer romped to victory.
