Overview

Manchester United made it to the quarter-final of the EFL Cup after defeating derby rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford. The Red Devils dominated the game as Pep Guatrdiola's side failed to register even a single shot on target.

Juan Mata scored the winner and he will be looking to start when his side host West Ham United in the quarter-final on Wednesday. The Spain international started in his side's 1-1 draw against the same opposition at the same venue last weekend.

Diafro Sakho gave an early lead in the second half and that was cancelled by Zlatan Ibrahimovic's header. The striker will miss the trip to Old Trafford as he is out with an injury. Andy Carroll could feature in his place for Slaven Bilci's side.

West Ham, on the other hand, registered a 2-1victory over Chelsea in order to progress to the last four of the cup competition. They will be looking for another win when they take on the Red Devils in the quarter-final.
