Overview

Manchester United and Manchester City have already faced each other in the same venue earlier in the season. Their meeting was a league clash at Old Trafford, which was won by Pep Guardiola's side.

Jose Mourinho will be hoping his side can defeat the Red Devils' neighbours in the derby clash during the fourth round of the EFL Cup. A victory for either side will see them seal a berth in the quarter-final of the competition.

In the last fixture, United suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Mourinho's return to the west London club ended in a disappointment and the Portugeuse tactician will be hoping to bounce back when his side take on the Etihad outfit.

City came from behind to settle for a 1-1 draw against Southampton. The Saints took a first half lead from Nathan Redmond's strike, but Kelechi Iheanacho's second half goal made sure Guardiola's men sealed a point.
