Manchester United emerged winners of the pre-season match of the International Champions Cup on Sunday defeating Spanish giant Real Madrid with 2-1 in a penalty shootout with neither side scoring a second goal in the 90-minute game that ended 1-1.

Though Casemiro scored a goal for Real Madrid in the 68th minute, he missed to score one in the penalty shootout giving away the victory to the opponents on a platter.

For Manchester United, it was the fourth pre-season match and the young Frenchman Anthony Martial gave an early lead with a goal that sustained the tempo until the match ended 1-1 draw.

Jesse Lingard gave the united the initial lead when the Frenchman Anthony Martial tapped the goal. Victor Lindelof brought down Theo Hernandez that helped Casemiro give the team the goal to cruise through the match for a penalty shootout.

Finally, United prevailed 2-1 on penalties. The two teams will be clashing again on August 8 in the UEFA Super Cup.
