Police in search of a prisoner who escaped while receiving treatment at the Kajang Hospital

Malaysian police are looking for a prisoner named Chow Kim Liong who escaped while receiving treatment at the Kajang Hospital on Thursday.

The 44-year-old man's left hand was in plaster cast and he is believed to have given his guards the slip while he was being treated at the hospital at around 8pm.

Kajang OCPD Assistant Commissioner Othman Nanyan said he was informed about the incident by the Kajang hospital authorities at about 9.15pm. But they have not received any official complaint from the prison authorities.

He said, "We have mobilised our men to track the prisoner and help in any way we can."

Kim was last seen getting on a bus heading to Kuala Lumpur a few minutes later. He was wearing red prison pants and a white t-shirt.

Chow Kim Liong began his sentence at the Kajang Prison on Tuesday for drug addiction.
