Veteran Malaysian actor Abdul Aziz Singah died of cancer at his residence in Bandar Putra Permai, Seri Kembangan, near Kuala Lumpur. The 75-year-old actor's remains were buried at the Kampung Bongek cemetery in Rembau, Negri Sembilan beside his mother's grave.

Nearly 250 people including family members, relatives and artistes were present at the burial ground. Veteran artist Sharifah Aminah Syed Abdullah, Amin Khan and S. Sahlan were present for his last rituals.

Abdul Aziz was a very popular actor in the 1980s and had acted in several films and dramas including PJ Holding, Sate, Maria Mariana and Impian. He had also served as the president of Persatuan Seniman Malaysia, a body advocating the rights of artistes.

"The last time I met with him was last month. He was a hard-working man and steadfast in facing any challenge... but I am sad that he did not talk about his illness until I was told that he was suffering from stage four cancer," S. Sahlan told AFP.

The Deputy President of the Malaysian Veteran Artistes Welfare Association (PKAVM), Rahim Jailani said that Abdul Aziz's death is a major loss to the local acting industry.

The actor is survived by his wife Zunita Mohamed and six sons.
