The Ayer Keroh Sessions Court has sentenced a convict, who is currently serving time for stealing a car, to nine years' jail and three strokes of the cane after he was found guilty of committing unnatural sex on a cell mate.

According to Bernama, while announcing the punishment, Judge Ahmad Sazali Omar told Ariff Amirrul Akmal Abu Bakar Lam, who is from Ampang in Selangor, that he should have behaved during his stay in jail. "You are in prison for theft and have only two more weeks to be in prison. At this time, you should behaved, but this you did," said the judge, as reported.

The 21-year-old prisoner was charged on 11 January after he forced a 19-year-old convict at the Jasin Correctional Centre to involve in unnatural sexual activity with him. The case was investigated under Section 377B of the Penal Code for which the offender can be jailed for up to 20 years and can be given strokes of the cane.
