LeEco launches Le 2, Le 2 Pro, and Le Max 2 Smartphones in China

LeEco launches Le 2, Le 2 Pro and Le Max 2. Ditches 3.5mm audio jack for 3.5mm audio jack in favor of USB C-type digital headphones.

Chinese smartphone brand LeEco has launched three smartphones -- Le 2, Le 2 Pro and Le Max 2. These phones succeed highly successful Le, Le1s and Le Max.

LeEco also outpaced Apple in becoming the first brand to ditch the 3.5mm audio jack in favour of USB C-type digital headphones. These are also the first to be certified by LeEco's very own Continual Digital Lossless Audio standard (CDLA).

LeEco's all three metallic phones are almost identical with squarish shaped fingerprint sensor located right below a squarish shaped camera sensor at the back. These devices also now carry the new logo of LeEco, while the earlier devices had LeTv mentioned on the back. Front of the devices has an edge to edge "bezel-less" screen.

Out of the 3 phones that were launched, Le 2 and Le pro fall under the affordable category while LeMax2 is the new flagship device. Both Le 2 and Le2 Pro have a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a huge 3,000mAh non-removable battery, and a 10-core MediaTek chipset to power them -- the X20 on the Le 2 and the faster X25 on the Le 2 Pro.

Once the imaging part, both the devices have a 8 MP front camera, on the back, Le 2 has a 16MP rear camera while Le 2 Pro has a 21MP camera. Both cameras are powered by a Sony IMX230 sensor. Both models come with 32GB of internal storage, 3GB of RAM on the Le 2 and 4GB of RAM on the Le 2 Pro.

The premium of the 3, Le Max 2 comes with a larger and sharper 5.7-inch QHD screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, a slightly larger 3,100mAh battery and Quick Charge 3.0 support. It has an 8MP front camera and a 21 MP rear camera which comes with OIS for steadier images. Le Max 2 has a 64GM inbuilt storage and a whopping 65GB ram and allows download speeds of up to 375 Mbps on supported networks.

Le 2 is priced at 1,099 yuan ($170), while 1,499 yuan ($230) for the Le 2 Pro, 2,099 yuan ($325) for the base-spec (4GB RAM and 32GB storage) Le Max 2 and just 2,499 yuan ($390) for the top-spec (6GB RAM and 64GB storage) version. Pre-order starts today itself in China. With such a pricing and spec sheet, LeEco is surely going to pose serious competition to other brands including Xiaomi.
