After completing the mandatory military service singer-actor Kim Hyun Joong will be returning soon to civilian life, his agency confirmed has confirmed. Soompi reported that a representative from KeyEast Entertainment said Kim Hyun Joong will be discharged in February.

However, it's not clear what his comeback plans are. There is not much news about any K-drama project he is taking up after the break. Before his enlistment, he had starred in successful K-drama "Inspiring Generation". Kim had received acclaim for his acting skills.

The actor had got enlisted in May 2015 in the middle of a messy legal battle with ex-girlfriend Choi, who said he fathered her child. According to allkpop, Choi filed a lawsuit against the actor accusing him of domestic abuse and demanded 1.6 billion KRW in damages.

His former girlfriend claimed that the actor assaulted her, because of which her rib got fractured, forcing her to undergo several months of treatment.

Earlier, Choi agreed for settlement and dropped all charges and demanded 600 million KRW. However, when Kim Hyun Joong's lawyer re-opened the case and asked for evidence from hospitals, it was revealed that Choi's bruises and injuries were caused by working out in the gym and not from any assault.

Things turned worse when, in the middle of the legal battle, it was revealed that Choi was pregnant and she said it was Kim Hyun Joong's child.

It was even debated whether the child was Kim Hyun Joong's or not but Choi alleged that a DNA test done at the Seoul National University College of Medicine proved that Kim was indeed the father of the child.

The court found Kim Hyun Joong not guilty of the charges of assault or domestic violence. And, as compensation for causing mental stress and for making false charges Choi was ordered to pay 100 million won. The trial in Choi's appeal will resume on January 11, 2017.
