Kim Eun Sook reveals what she is looking for in a male lead role of her new drama

The story of the drama is about a Korean man who takes up the identity of that of a soldier in the United States army

Kim Eun Sook, the creator of the hit drama series Goblin, has already started working upon her next drama. She recently revealed the kind of actor she is looking for in the male lead role of her new drama, Mr. Sunshine.

According to Koreaboo, Kim Eun Sook recently revealed that her upcoming drama project will be released sometime in March next year.

In a recent interview, she further revealed that she was thinking which male actors would fit the the male protagonist's role in the series, and shared the kind of actor she wants to cast.

She stated, "There's one actor that I've been thinking of. The character has strong narration and a wide emotional range, so I want someone who's extremely good at acting."

The story of the drama is set before the Japanese occupation of Korea in the early 1900s. According to Soompi, the story of the drama is about a Korean man who takes up the identity of that of a soldier in the United States army. That's why one of the criteria for the male lead of the drama is also that the actor could speak in English, Kim Eun Sook mentioned.

The incident happened in 1871 after embarking on a battleship from Korea during the United States expedition to Korea. After being stationed there, the man goes back to Joseon where he falls in love with a woman who is from an aristocratic family.

The agency of the writer, Hwa & Dam Pictures also revealed that she is still wondering whether to cast an actor in his 30's or 40's.

Currently, the synopsis of Mr. Sunshine has already been finalized and she has begun working on the script.

She explained that the drama is set before the Japanese occupation of Korea era and it's difficult to get such places as there isn't much representative of the era. So, they'll have to build up the set and therefore she needs to write the script as soon as possible.

Apart from Goblin, the writer is also well-known for writing multiple hit dramas, such as Secret Garden, The Heirs, and Descendants of the Sun.
