KBS drama Chief Kim retains top position; followed by Saimdang, Light's Diary and Missing 9

The KBS drama "Chief Kim" is still at the top position in in its time slot, according to the latest Nielsen Korean ratings survey.

The KBS drama is still at the top position in its time slot, according to the latest Nielsen Korean rating survey. The survey is conducted by Nielsen Korean, a broadcasting rating company, which reported that the eighth episode of the show that premiered on 16 February reached a new high. Reportedly Chief Kim achieved 17.6 percent ratings, which is 1.5 percent higher from the seventh episode of the show with 16.1 percent ratings.

Meanwhile, SBS drama Saimdang, Light's Diary ranked second with 10.3 percent ratings and MBC's Missing 9 managed 4.3 percent ratings.

Namgoong Min who plays the role of Kim Sung Ryong is one of main reasons behind the success of the drama. The actor is doing a commendable job, bringing the show to life.

In a recent interview, he shared some of his thoughts on what seems to make Chief Kim so popular these days. According to Namgoong, Chief Kim's growing popularity is because of its humour and the viewers relate to it easily. He also noted that the show is light and can be enjoyed by the viewers without thinking much about it.

Soompi quoted the actor, "The secret to the popularity of 'Chief Kim' is in its humor and how relatable it is. It's not hard to watch; viewers can enjoy it without thinking much, which I think is why it gained attention," adding, "The atmosphere at the studio is very bright and lively. All of the actors are filming with smiles on their faces, and I think viewers are somehow able to feel that."

Namgoong further said, "I'm very happy that 'Chief Kim' and Kim Sung Ryong are receiving lots of love. It's a busy schedule, but I am doing my best to return the love with a good performance. Please continue to support us."

Chief Kim airs every Wednesday and Thursday.
