While the state of Texas is battling Hurricane Harvey, the worst tropical storm in over 50 years, US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have returned to Texas to personally meet the victims of the storm. This was the second visit to the hurricane ravaged state, after the President received criticism for his insensitive response to the tragedy during his previous visit.

In Houston, thousands of people have been stranded and rescue operations to help them are still going on. According to reports, 44 people have died so far due to Storm Harvey and over 35,000 people have been rescued by the police.

The mayor of Houston has ordered mandatory evacuations for people, who still haven't left their homes in part of the city, that remains flooded more than a week after Harvey dumped 50-plus inches of rain in spots. On Saturday, Mayor Sylvester Turner said that nearly 300 people have stayed behind in western stretches of the city inundated by water that the Army Corp of Engineers has released from reservoirs.

Reports said that there are 4,700 dwellings in the flooded area, including houses and apartments. In this gallery, IBTimes Singapore has compiled a series of images of the massive disaster caused by Hurricane Harvey.
