Huawei just released the stunningly designed MateBook X. It is thin and portable. Without the fan, the experience is silent and comfortable.

At first glance, the device may be carving its own path for ditching the Thunderbolt 3 port and touchscreen capability but Huawei is certain of what it is doing. The laptop has its flaws just like any other machines in the market. Check this rundown of Huawei MateBook X's specifications.

Specifications

Huawei MateBook X has Intel Core i5 and i7 seventh-generation Intel Kaby Lake processor. The topnotch processor is joined by premium components such as the AC-8275 Wi-Fi chip, Dolby speakers, and Precision touchpad. It runs on Windows 10.

The i5 variant has 8 gigabytes of RAM and 256 gigabytes of internal storage while the i7 variant has similar RAM and 512 gigabytes of internal storage. Its base price starts at US$1,299. Variants are available in titanium grey and prestige gold.

Design

With MateBook X, Huawei undeniably banks on design more than anything else. The tablet exudes a great influence upon Apple's MacBook design with a touch of HP's Spectre. From the outside, it is a sturdy laptop that every user would enjoy.

Fanless, thin, and light—there is nothing more that every laptop user would ever ask for. The body is made of metal chassis with soft edges. However, it can easily pick up fingerprints and dents when dropped or bumped into a hard object.

Display

Huawei MateBook X sports a 13-inch non-touchscreen display with 2,160 x 1,440 resolution in 3:2 aspect ratio. The screen is made of a Corning Gorilla Glass which is known to be a sturdy material. Although it has a 100 percent sRGB rating for colour accuracy and 350 nits of brightness, the display struggles to keep up when there is too much sunlight.

Keyboard

The manufacturer used a full-size keyboard for the laptop. Its design is a mixture of Surface Pro 4's chicklet-style keyboard and HP Spectre laptops' keyboards.

The function row has brightness controls, volume keys, Wi-Fi toggle, print screen key, backlight controls, and the MateBook Manager. Not to mention, the keyboard is resistant to liquid.
