Healer writer Song Ji Na takes over The King Loves

Im Si-wan, Im Yoon-ah and Hong Jong-hyun take the lead in this historical drama directed by Kim Sang-hyeop.

Song Ji Na has reportedly taken over as the lead writer for MBC's upcoming drama The King Loves. If reports are true, the drama will be Ji Na's come back to the mini screen in three years. Her last drama was Healer in 2014 with Ji Chang Wook and Park Min Young in the lead. Some of her works include Faith (2012) with Lee Min Ho and Kim Hee sun, The Legend (2007), with Bae Yong Joon and Lee Ji Ah and all time favourite Sandglass (1995) with Choi Min Soo and Go Hyun Jung.

The King Loves is based on the novel of the same name by Kim Yi-ryung. Im Si-wan, Im Yoon-ah and Hong Jong-hyun take the lead in this historical drama directed by Kim Sang-hyeop. The plot is set in the Goryeo Dynasty and revolves around a young and ambitious monarch Won (Im Si-wan) with a desire to conquer. Two people play important roles in Won's life—his childhood friend Rin (Hong Jong-hyun) and the beautiful woman San (Im Yoon-ah) with whom he falls in love.

The production team released the working still from the drama and the chemist between Siwan and Yoon Ah seems magical. A recent press statement from the team revealed that the drama will showcase a completely different Yoon Ah. "You'll be able to see a new image of Im YoonA. She has prepared a lot in order to portray the character in an enchanting way. It will be fun to watch her changing depending on the situation," it read.

The pre-produced drama is nearing its completion of the filming schedule. The project is one of the highly anticipated drama as it will be Im Siwan's last work before his military enlistment. Siwan is best known for starring in the film The Attorney (2013), and the cable series Misaeng (2014), which were massive hits.

The King Loves is likely to be aired in July.
