GTA 5 DLCs: Evolution of GTA Online from 2013 to 2016 revealed

Prolific YouTuber Yan2295 reveals the chronological sequence of GTA Online events or DLC releases since its launch in 2013.

Avid GTA Online gamers can now enjoy the sneak peek at the evolution of GTA Online over the years as the prolific YouTuber Yan2295 has revealed some interesting tidbits with the emerging trend of GTA 5 DLCs from 2013 to 2016. Yan2295 has basically posted a recap on the latest DLCs and title updates dating back to 2013 in his attempt to relive the wonderful memories of GTA Online evolution over the last few years.

Here is the chronological list of events comprising DLC releases or content updates that have constantly changed the game, ever since the release of GTA Online (courtesy Yan2295):

The Beach Bum update – 19 November, 2013

It is the first ever content update for GTA Online which introduced four new vehicles: BF Bifta, Kalahari, Paradise and Speeder, along with two new weapons: broken bottle and SNS pistol.

Content Creator update – 10 December, 2013

It is the first update in the game to allow players to create their own content in GTA Online including custom races and deathmatches.

Capture update – 18 December, 2013

Capture update introduced a new game mode in GTA Online which was precisely named after the update itself as "Capture". Unfortunately, no other game content was added with it.

Holiday Gifts – 24 December, 2013

It is the first Christmas DLC introduced in GTA Online, which brought the concept of Christmas themed clothing and the first snowfall in Los Santos on the eve of Christmas Day. The special items were removed on 5 January 2014.

The Valentine's Day Massacre Special – 13 February, 2014

It is a limited edition update that introduced the classic vehicle Roosevelt and the brand new weapon Gusenberg Sweeper aka the Tommy gun. Both the males and females could wear the special Valentine's Day clothing for a limited time in the game.

The Business Update – 4 March, 2014

The Business Update is the first major update in GTA Online which added four new vehicles including the Alpha, Jester, Turismo R and the Vestra. The Dinka Jester was the best sports car while the Turismo R was the best supercar at the time in GTA 5.

A couple of new weapons were also introduced into the game namely the Heavy Pistol and the Special Carbine.

Capture Creator Update – 8 April, 2014

It is a small update which added the Capture mode into the Content Creator in GTA Online.

The High Life Update – 13 May, 2014

It is the second major update in GTA Online after The Business Update as it brought four new DLC vehicles including Huntley S, Dewbauchee Massacro, Pegassi Zentorno and the Dinka Thrust motorcycle.

The Zentorno remains the most widely used supercar in the game while the Massacro still holds the honour for being the fastest sports car till date in GTA Online.

The only new weapon included in this update is the Bullpup Rifle which is still a popular medium to long range weapon in the game.

I'm Not a Hipster Update – 17 June, 2014

This is a surprise update, which Rockstar did not even mention on its Newswire or tease it on its official YouTube channel. It ushered in a bunch of seven new vehicles including the Pigalle, Blade, Rhapsody, Warrener, Glendale, Panto and Dubsta 6x6.

All of these vehicles have been grossly underrated in the game, despite being of good utility value at a reasonable purchase price. The update also introduced two new weapons: Vintage Pistol and the Antique Cavalry Dagger.

The Independence Day Special – 1 July, 2014

It is another limited time update which added two new vehicles, The Liberator and the Sovereign, as well as two new weapons namely the Musket and the Firework Launcher.

The San Andreas Flight School Update – 19 August, 2014

It is the third major update in the game after the Business and the High Life updates, which primarily added the training facility called 'Flight School' in GTA Online.

The update also brought four new vehicles including the Coquette Classic, Buckingham Swift, Besra and the Miljet.

The Last Team Standing Update – 2 October 2014

It introduced the Last Team Standing game mode to the content creator along with three new vehicles: Furore GT, Hakuchou and Innovation. The game mode added Snipers vs Stunters deathmatch into GTA Online.

It also added two new weapons namely The Marksman Rifle and the Heavy Shotgun.

Festive Surprise – 18 December, 2014

It is the first true Christmas update that brought four new vehicles: Rat Truck, Slamvan, Massacro RaceCar and the Jester RaceCar with two new liveries.

On the weapons front, we got the Proximity Mines and the Homing Launcher.

The Heists Update – 10 March 2015

It is the biggest update till date and also the most-awaited DLC in GTA Online. We got the highly-anticipated Heists and the popular Adversary modes in GTA Online with this update.

The update also added 15 new vehicles including Gang Burrito, Kuruma, Kuruma Armored, Guardian, Caso, Insurgent Pick-Up, Insurgent, Karin Technical, Mule Armored, Enduro, Lectro, Valkyrie, Savage, Velum 5-seater and the Hydra. Finally, the only weapon to debut with this update was the Flare Gun.

Ill-Gotten Gains Part 1 – 10 June 2015

It is one of the first feel rich or expensive update in the game. True to its name, all the new DLC items sold in this update were expensive with steep price-tags.

The update added six new vehicles namely the Osiris, Windsor, Virgo, Stirling GT, Gold Luxor and Gold Swift. The only weapon to debut with this update was the Combat PDW or Combat Personal Defence Weapon.

The Osiris happens to be one of the fastest supercars in the game while the Gold Luxor and Gold Swift are the costliest planes in GTA Online.

Ill-Gotten Gains Part 2 – 8 July 2015

This was the last update for all PS3 and Xbox 360 players in GTA Online, which introduced another six new vehicles and two new weapons. On the vehicle front, we got the Progen T20, Chino, Coquette BlackFin, Brawler, Vindicator and Toro.

The T20 was the fastest new supercar until recently when Rockstar rolled out the Grotti X80 Proto. The two weapons were the Marksman Pistol and the Knuckle Duster.

The Freemode Events Update – 15 September, 2015

This update basically introduced the Freemode events in free roam for GTA Online along with the Rockstar Editor on PS4 and Xbox One.

Lowriders Update – 20 October 2015

It introduced the Benny's Original Motorworks in GTA Online along with a host of Lowrider cars including Faction and Moonbeam. The customisation option was unlocked for all existing vehicles like the Buccaneer through the Benny's shop. The two new weapons that came out with the update included the Machine Pistol and the Machete.

Halloween Surprise DLC – 29 October 2015

It was our first official Halloween update since the launch of GTA Online which added several new masks and the Slasher Adversary Mode. The DLC also included two new customisable vehicles: Franken Stange and the Lurcher, and a semi-weapon called The Flash Light.

Executives and Other Criminals – 15 December 2015

It is the fifth major update in the game following the long-awaited Heists DLC in GTA Online, which added the Yachts, the Stilt Houses and new apartments, the new VIP feature as well as new Freemode Events and Challenges.

The update also added the longest list of DLC vehicles in the game including Benefactor Schafter, Turreted Limo, Schafter V12, Nightshade Mamba, Verlierer, Cognoscenti, Cognoscenti 55, Baller LE, Baller LWB and SuperVolito.

We also got two new weapons with this update namely the Heavy Revolver and the Switchblade.

Festive Surprise 2015 – 21 December 2015

It is the third time-limited iteration of Christmas DLC since the launch of GTA Online, which brought back the Snow feature along with a new DLC vehicle called the Tampa.

The January 2016 Update – 28 January, 2016

The update introduced the Drop Zone Adversary Mode, besides the ability to customise the Sultan and Banshee at the Benny's Motorworks.

Be My Valentine – 10 February, 2016

It is the second iteration of Valentine's update since the game's release, which also saw the advent of another classic vehicle called the Roosevelt Valor.

Lowriders - Part 2 aka Lowriders: Custom Classics – 15 March, 2016

The second installment of Lowriders update was called "Lowriders: Custom Classics" and it added the SUMO Adversary Mode, besides adding customisation capability to a bunch of classic cars in the game.

The update brought two new vehicles namely the Virgo Classic and the Faction Donk. We also received the Double Barreled Shotgun and the Compact Rifle with this DLC.

Further Adventures in Finance and Felony DLC – 7 June, 2016

This new update introduced the CEO feature with new buying-and-selling-cargo missions, besides the ability to purchase new office buildings (skyscrapers) and warehouses.

We got ten new vehicles with this update including the Benefactor XLS, FMJ, Reaper, Windsor Drop, Bestia GTS, Rumpo Custom, Brickade, Nimbus, Volatus and Tug.

In the span of three years, GTA Online has brought us 25 free content updates with 90 new DLC vehicles and 23 new weapons, besides countless new gamemodes and features.
