Google makes Gmail account changes Android phone-friendly now

With the new Gmail update, Android users can now change their Google account settings right through their mobile app.

Google Inc has just released the latest update for the Gmail mobile app bringing a few tweaks and improvements. Users have the option to download the latest Gmail APK to get the update before the official release.

With the new Gmail update, Android users can now change their Google account settings right through their mobile app, including their profile information, password and privacy settings. To do this, open the Gmail app > Settings > My Account.

In addition, swipe actions are also given an improvement. Swiping to archive an email remains the same, but to go back to the previous action tap the undo button right at the bottom bar.

The Gmail update has the build number 7.9.24.170548882 with file size 19.35 megabytes only. Target operating system version is Android 8.0 Oreo, but it is still downloadable on devices running Android 4.1 Jellybean. Download directly the Gmail APK via this link.

In the meantime, experts have been warning email users to switch to Gmail for security reasons. AOL had announced a couple of days ago that it will be ending the AIM instant messenger app on 15 December, 20 years after it was launched.

Yahoo Mail, on the other hand, has also been struggling to keep its data safe as evidenced in not just one data breach but many. For those interested to switch to Gmail, it is important to export Yahoo calendar before terminating the account.
