Elon Musk's stand on artificial intelligence

Musk's strategy is to join the AI and work side by side with them rather than making the machines smarter and tech them do everything on their own

Elon Musk has a complicated relationship with the way artificial intelligence (AI) is shaping up. Sometimes, he is wary of the entire thing and says that if we don't take a call very soon, we are going to get ourselves overthrown by AI and then again news surfaces that he is funding a company that is going to make a symbiotic relationship with a human and a machine interface.

Tesla is one of the most cutting edge tech companies out there and his another company SpaceX is also not something that refrains from exploiting tech, after all it is planning to send people in outer space. So what is the real hiccup in Musk's mind when he comes to talking about AI?

In a recent interview he cleared his stance on AI by saying that since his presvious warning regarding artificial intelligence - humanity will be doomed if we keep making machines smarter than us and don't look out for their perils - didn't have an impact, he decided to try to develop artificial intelligence in a way that will have a positive affect on humanity. And that's exactly where Neuralink comes in.

Musk's start-up called Neuralink aims to have a direct plug-in connection with a computer so that we are able to tap into its potential to repair brain injuries. The process is, however, an arduous one and you are not going to see it coming out anytime soon but it's a beginning and the start-up believes that it will need to simulate at the very least one million brain neurons before they can get a proper crack at it, so don't expect it to make its way in the market anytime soon. Maybe our grandchildren will find it very useful, time will tell.

Elon Musk admits that AI is a problem and we need to find measures to protect human interests but when you can't fight an innovation the next best thing to do is jump on the bandwagon and make sure that the direction where artificial intelligence is going is veered in the right direction and is not detrimental to the human cause.

If Elon Musk is to be believed, we need to start somewhere if we want to stay ahead of the curve in the future impending doom and this is as good a time as any to make the change.
