American talk show host and comedian Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are hit by rumours that their marriage is in trouble. InTouch Weekly has come up with claims that all is not well between the couple, who celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary on 16 August.

"She[Ellen] wants to control and micromanage every aspect of Portia's life, and it's becoming more and more of a deal-breaker," an alleged source said.

The insider added: "If Ellen's on a cleanse, Portia needs to be on a cleanse. If Ellen quits coffee, Portia needs to quit, too. It's Ellen's world and what she says, goes."

"She has never been more miserable in the relationship. She feels like a trophy wife, someone who rides horses a couple of times a week and is kept in a gilded cage on Ellen's lavish estates in LA and Santa Barbara. If it wasn't for her bit part onScandal, Portia would have fled by now," the source continued.

The Oscar host married the Australian-American actress in 2008 at their home in Beverly Hills after the state of California lifted its ban on same-sex marriages. DeGeneres had previously slammed reports that she and Rossi are heading for divorce.

"We don't know anything about it until somebody tells us," she said, according to Entertainment Tonight‎. "I don't read the tabloids, and I don't have a publicist."

"I don't know why they do this," DeGeneres added. "We're kind of flattered. We really don't almost break up, we don't fight, we're madly in love, and I guess it's boring."

Adding on, amidst these split rumours, the couple were pictured together on a shopping trip on 28 October in West Hollywood, California.
