Elderly rider dies as e-bike collides with tipper truck on Cecil Street

The police say the 62-year-old tipper truck driver was arrested for causing death by a negligent act.

A 62-year-old e-bike rider died after a tipper truck ran him over in Singapore's Central Business District on Friday. The police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said accident took place around 10.30 am. The SCDF paramedics pronounced e-bike rider dead at the scene.

The police arrested the 62-year-old tipper truck driver following the accident at Cecil Street towards Collyer Quay. The driver was arrested for causing death by a negligent act. The police said the investigations are going on.

Recently, the e-bike accidents have become quite common in Singapore. Last month, an e-bike accident involving a trailer killed two men and injured another at the junction of Pandan Crescent along the West Coast Highway.
