Eid al-Adha 2016: Top quotes and messages to share with friends and family

Eid al-Adha is the second of two religious holidays celebrated by Muslims worldwide.

Millions of Muslims across the globe are preparing for Eid al-Adha or Feast of Sacrifice. The festive day ends the annual Hajj to Mecca and is the second of two religious holidays celebrated by Muslims worldwide.

Eid al-Adha falls on the tenth day of Dhul-Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic calendar. Singapore, Philippines and Indonesia will mark the three-day long weekend holiday, from 10 September to 12 September.

To commemorate the sacrifice, Muslims sacrifice goats, sheep, cows and camels in commemoration of the Prophet Abraham's readiness to sacrifice his son to show obedience to Allah. The meat is distributed to the poor, neighbors and family.

On the occasion, IBTimes Singapore has picked up the top five quotes from the Quran to celebrate Eid al-Adha:
