Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds to play lead role in live action Pokemon movie

The 41-year-old actor will be donning the lead role of detective Pikachu alongside Jurrasic World star Justice Smith and Big Little Lies actress Kathryn Newton.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds is 'Gotta' catch pokemons in the movie 'Detective Pikachu'. The 41-year-old actor will be giving voice over to the lead role of 'Detective Pikachu' alongside 'Jurrasic World' star Justice Smith and 'Big Little Lies' actress Kathryn Newton.

The fans of Ryan Reynolds are going bonkers to see the other side of the Deadpool actor on screen. The Deadpool's sequel is all set to hit the screens on June 1, 2018.

'Detective Pikachu', whose shooting is to start from mid of January in London, will be directed by 'Goosebumps' director Rob Letterman. The movie will be based on the video game with the same name that was released in Japan in 2016.In this video game, the player will try to solve mysteries accompanied by Pikachu - the mascot of the franchise.

The story of 'Detective Pikachu' revolves around the disappearance of the father of Tim Goodman (Justice Smith) and Pikachu, along with the teenagers' team and sassy journalist Newton, will investigate the matter. Moreover, sources told Holywood Reporter that the movie is going to be motion-captured in action.

While Pokemon Company's trusted collaborator, Toho will be handling the film's distribution in Japan, Universal Pictures has obtained distribution rights for the movie outside the country.

The 'Pokemon Media Company' has high hopes for this upcoming project as they have already sold around 300 million video games overseas.They have also produced animated series spanning around 20 seasons and shipped TCG cards to 74 countries.
