Overview

After 12 matches in the group stages, only four teams have prevailed in the ongoing 2016 AFF Suzuki Cup. Thailand topped Group A with three wins from as many matches and they will take on Myanmar, who finished second in Group B with two wins from their quota, in a two-legged semi-final. On the other hand, Group B leaders Vietnam take on Indonesia, who managed to edge past Singapore and reach the last-four stages.

The defending champions were never tested in their Group A clashes as they won three of their outings. The War Elephants showed they are an all-round side with good attacking and defensive display.

Kiatisuk Senamuang's side are looking good to win their second successive and record fifth title. It will be a big test for regional powerhouse Myanmar, who only defeated Cambodia and Malaysia in their group stages.

Group B leaders Vietnam have looked solid so far in the tournament. They fended off a threat from rivals Myanmar beating them 2-1 to make sure they were unbeaten. While The Golden Stars are favourites to reach the final, their opponents Indonesia have been fearless enroute to semi-final.

The Garudas' performance against Thailand should ring warning bells in Vietnam's camp.
