2017 WTA Finals Singapore: Day six live coverage, face-off details

Martina Hingis and Andrea Hlaváčková will be playing semi-final match on 28 October, Saturday.

In WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global, two women's singles matches have been scheduled for day six on 27 October, Friday. While the former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki and the French ace Caroline Garcia will be playing against each other, current world No. 1 Simona Halep will be serving against the world rank four Elina Svitolina in the group stage match.

On 25 October, Wednesday, Wozniacki defeated the Romanian Halep by 6-0, 6-2. On the same day after a tough battle against Ukrainian Svitolina, the 24-year-old Garcia beat the 23-year-old by 6-7, 6-3, 7-5.

According to the head-to-head stats, the Danish ace has a 2-0 lead against Garcia. The WTA Finals match will be their third face-off. Wozniacki and Garcia had played their first match against each other in 2012 Seoul and the second tournament in 2015 New Heaven.

In the second match of day six, the 2017 Rome Masters winner Svitolina will be looking for a 3-1 lead against Halep in a head-to-head count.

Previously both the players have faced each other in 2013 Sofia Open, 2017 French Open, Canadian Masters, including Rome Masters. Apart from 2017 French open, where the top seed ace Halep managed to defeat Svitolina in a quarter-final match, while the other three were won by Svitolina.

On the other hand, the elder of the Williams sisters, Venus Williams defeated the 2017 Wimbledon winner Garbiñe Muguruza in a group stage match by 7-5, 6-4 on 26 October, Thursday.

In the second match of Thursday, the youngest ace among other qualified players Jeļena Ostapenko took the victory over the world No. 3 Karolína Plíšková by 6-3, 6-1.

In the first day of the women's doubles, the Swiss great Martina Hingis and her doubles partner Chan Yung-jan won quarter-final match against the Czech ace Květa Peschke and the German Anna-Lena Grönefeld on 26 October, Thursday.

In the second quarter-final match, the Hungarian Tímea Babos and partner Czech ace Andrea Hlaváčková defeated the Slovenian ace Andreja Klepač and the Spaniard María José Martínez Sánchez.

Both the winners from the two quarter-finals are set to play a semi-final match on 28 October, Saturday at 10:00 am SGT.
